Job Title*: GIS Database Specialist
Job Description: City of San Mateo seeks qualified individual to develop, maintain and validate GIS data sets pertaining to E911 dispatch system. As a member of the GIS team, you will perform a variety of technical work in the development and maintenance of geodatabase processing systems (GIS). Specific focus will involve the development County-wide master address and street centerline data sets for E911 purposes

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge
and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Knowledge of:
• ESRI – ArcGIS desktop software, ArcGIS on-line tools
o Specific emphasis on road topology geoprocessing and networks
• Principles and techniques of geospatial analysis and maintenance of geodatabase
• Cartography and mapping related technology
• Map projections and coordinate systems and translation functions
• Data models pertaining to emergency response/dispatch systems

Ability to:
• Develop, maintain and validate geodatabase data sets
• Ability of to use ArcMap geoprocessing tools to create, edit and validate road networks
• Analyze data and develop logical solutions to maintaining the data in both MS Access and MS SQL server data warehouse environments
• Interpret staff mapping and GIS needs and translate into desired products
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course
of work.

Experience
• 2-3 years of professional experience using ESRI ArcGIS to produce data and map products. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Extensions. Familiarity with AutoCAD, and MS Access and office products.
GPS experience preferred.

Education

• Two or more college years in studying GIS, Geography or related fields

DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Collect, merge, synthesize municipal address and street centerline data sets for the creating of county-wide geodatabase
• Design, develop, test and implement geodatabase workflows, maintenance applications and systems to develop county-wide GIS map layers for emergency dispatch system.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for each geodatabase application
• Respond to ad-hoc users request for geospatial analysis, decision making tools and map products
• Assist in developing and modifying internal Geodata processing standards and procedures
Salary: 32 hrs / week @$32.13/hr Non-benefited Position Term limited to 1000 hrs July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018
