Job Title*: Geographic Information Systems Programmer2/CAD Operator
Job Description: SUMMARY:Involves design, analysis, development and implementation of Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and other remote sensing solutions. Participates in IT projects requiring GIS data. Works with business users to define data and general GIS needs. Responsible for the development and maintenance of geospatial databases, web applications, programs and equipment.

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates and participates in the development and implementation of the Physical Planning & Construction Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer-aided Design (CAD) databases; directs and participates in the long-term development and enhancement of GIS information technology and CAD functionality to meet drawing, mapping, modeling and end user service objectives; supervises and performs GIS modeling duties and CAD drafting updates of existing and new project related and campus wide files; provides expertise, support, assistance and guidance to staff and external contacts. Works on assignments of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors. Assists in analyses as needed to achieve research objectives.

GIS Analyst/CAD Operator is a journey-level professional position requiring the application of a body of GIS theory and principles. Uses professional GIS concepts and applications to resolve a variety of analysis and research issues working with related software and programs to create and maintain data and/or maps to be combined with geographically referenced data. GIS software will be used to relate different types of data such as socioeconomic, demographic, administrative or political boundaries, land use, land cover, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation networks.
