Job Title*: GIS and remote sensing analyst
Job Description: We are an Oakland based aerial imagery company whose focus is to help growers increase yields by more efficiently applying water and fertilizer. We acquire, process, and analyze multispectral aerial imagery of farms, in order to monitor crop variables like plant nutrient and water content. Growers use these data to improve crop management practices like fertilizer application, irrigation schedules, and stress/disease detection. Currently, we are a team of 30 with operations and paying customers in California, the Midwest, and Australia.


Responsibilities

Work with a team of scientists and engineers to process and analyze imagery for both customer delivery and for ongoing research experiments we are conducting. Day-to-day responsibilities will include: assessing the quality of automatically processed imagery; re-processing as necessary, by, e.g., creating and editing shapefiles, or improving the georegistration of an image; and analysis of multispectral imagery data to identify areas in a field that may require management changes. Over time, additional responsibilities will include: contributing to improving the quality of our automated image processing pipeline; and contributing to research to develop new products and analyses from the imagery we acquire.


Desired skills & experience

+ Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ENVI)
+ Experience processing/producing both raster and vector data
+ Experience working with geospatial databases (e.g., PostGIS)
+ Experience with preparing/editing scripts (e.g., python or R) desirable
+ Attention to detail
+ Good communication skills
