This position provides GIS support services for the TRC Permitting, Planning and Licensing Department located in Mountain View, CA or in San Francisco.
Primary duties include generation of presentation quality maps for final permitting applications to various federal, state and local agencies, creation and manipulation of geospatial data including .gdb geodatabase management, and general GIS technical support. The GIS Technician provides GIS support services to several different individuals and departments in a fast-paced consulting environment. The GIS Technician would work on a variety of projects, including linear natural gas pipeline projects, electrical transmission lines, wind-power projects, generating facilities, and other land development projects (e.g. university, commercial, residential port, etc.).
Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
Work with multiple data types
Perform data conversions
Create field maps
Create report maps
Collect field data (Trimble TerraSync)
Work with CNDDB datasets
Knowledge of the following is required:
MS Office Suite
Iterative geoprocessing workflows and analyses
GoogleEarth and kml files
Good interpersonal skills coupled with analytical competence are required to interact effectively with the variety of individuals involved in GIS projects.
Good organizational and time management skills are essential to complete the responsibilities of providing support for concurrent projects.
Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Minimum of 2 year of GIS experience or 1 year GIS experience and additional training in GIS analysis methods/techniques
BA/BS from an accredited college or university in GIS, cartography, geography, environmental sciences, or related field.
Proficiency using the ArcGIS Desktop suite of products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox).
Proficient data management and cartographic skills and techniques, with attention to detail and personal quality control for drafts and deliverables.
