Kristin Byrd is a Physical Scientist with the USGS Western Geographic Science Center in Menlo Park, CA, where she has been employed since February 2009. Kristin is the Principal Investigator of a 2-year project titled, “Integrated Scenarios for Habitat Threat Assessment on California Rangelands,” funded by the California Landscape Conservation Cooperative (CALCC). Kristin completed a Ph.D. at U.C. Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management with Maggi Kelly, and completed a postdoc in the same department with Adina Merenlender. She has an M.A. in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Systematics from San Francisco State University and a B.S. in environmental science from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Kristin also has four years of environmental consulting experience, and prior to graduate work spent 9 months working at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
